Privacy Policy
Last updated October 2026
GiftSnap helps families coordinate gifts. This policy explains what we collect and why. It is a plain-language summary and not legal advice.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
GiftSnap does not create accounts for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Wishlists are about children but are created and managed by adults. The only child-related data a parent may enter is a first name and an optional birthday, used solely to organise wishlists. This information is never shared publicly and is visible only to the family members and people the parent invites.
Beta
GiftSnap is in beta. Features may change, and we may delete beta data when the beta ends. No money moves through GiftSnap: we never take payments, and gifts are bought from retailers directly.
Family members: what we collect
Your sign-in email (for passwordless sign-in with a code), the Family, children and wishlists you create, the gifts you add, and product photos you upload. We do not sell your data.
Gifters: what we store and why
A Gifter is someone who opens a Share link to a wishlist. We ask for a name and an email and store them, together with the Claims and Pledges you make and whether you have confirmed your email (your confirmation status).
Why: the email lets us confirm that a real person is claiming a gift, so gifts are not claimed by bots or reserved by mistake. The name lets the Family see who is giving what. The Claims and Pledges keep gifts from being duplicated and let you find them again later, and the confirmation status records whether your email has been verified. We keep this only for as long as the wishlist exists, and we use it for nothing else.
How we use it
To operate the service: storing wishlists and coordinating Claims and Pledges so gifts aren't duplicated. Product images may be processed by a visual-recognition provider solely to identify the item you photographed.
Sharing
Wishlists are private until you create a Share link. Anyone with the link can view the list and, after giving a name and email, claim gifts. A Gifter's name and email are visible to the Family that owns the list. A Gifter's email is never shown to other Gifters; their name appears to other Gifters only as a pledger on a Group gift.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your data in the app and revoke Share links.
